The Northern Ireland Housing Executive and your local city council have on offer a number of grants and schemes to help fund works to properties.
Currently the Northern Ireland Housing Executive is welcoming applications for Disabled facilities and Repair Grants.
Disabled Facilities Grant
This grant is available to owners, occupiers, landlords and private tenants.
The works covered under this grant must be approved by an occupational therapist and the amount of grant available will depend upon your finances and the approved cost of the work.
Applicants on low incomes may received up to £25,000, however it may be possible, in special circumstances to receive more than £25,000, subject to approval.
The grant monies will be received when all works have been completed and the occupational therapist is satisfied with the works carried out. You will also be required to provide all accounts, receipts and certificates. The grants manager will determine whether or not payments can be released during the works.
This grant is available to landlords, agents and some tenants. This grant is only available for replacing existing items, not for adding something new.
The amount of grant available does not depend upon your finances but on the capital value of the property and the type of works required.
Grants are available up to a value of £7,500 over a 3 year period.
The grant payment will be paid once all works have been completed and the executive have received all accounts and receipts in relation to same.
Applications for grants for Discretionary Renovations and Replacement and Home Repair Assistance may be considered on special circumstances.
The executive are not currently accepting applications for the following grants:-
